What to Expect

The river has been altered dramatically by humans. Lamont-Doherty scientists Frank Nitsche and Dorothy Peteet describe how.

Spring is a great time to visit since the weather will be warm and the big parks will not be as crowded. Be sure to take the bypass roads to see some of the waterfalls before Multnomah; they are much less crowded. There are also many breweries in the area for some post-hike relaxation. Enjoy your trip!
